Eugene Rywak
Eugene - radio comms enthusiast since adolescence willing to share practical approaches on how to benefit from amateur radio operation. Willing to represent the Cambridge Amateur Radio Club in portable operation, and encourage Annual Preppers Meet attendees to Get On The Air (GOTA) with the available equipment and antennas onsite. These are intended for Shortwave frequency bands, Very High Frequency 146.5 MHz, Ultra High Frequency 446.1 MHz as Simplex (point to point) or using available repeaters in the area, and to make contacts with other licensed amateur radio operators - both nearby and distant.
As a member of the Radio Amateur of Canada (organization representing all licensed operators with the federal Government of Canada), I would like to shine more light on this topic, as RAC is holding an important role in our freedom of using RF energy for communications and technological advancements. We are benefiting from 10% of the total radio spectrum frequencies allocation guaranteed for amateur radio use, and directly competing with multi-billion-dollar telecom industries, military, aviation, industrial use, etc.
The primary technological cycle starts with amateurs experimenting with innovative techniques, which are later commercialized, and you are invited to become involved with hands-on experience, allowing you to always be prepared and know how to communicate wirelessly as needed and for fun.
The possibility of speaking with astronauts orbiting earth on International Space Station should encourage you to be curious and come by to see us and learn more about it.
